A point that may be made in the excellent follow-up by A2 concerns burned agents in Central America. According to the Corriere expert Guido Olimpio, Bob Lady had already been burned in Central America as well as many of his collegues by Aldrich Ames in 1994. Ames, whose actual position in the CIA is not specified by the author, severly damaged American undercover networks in South and Central America.
According to Olimpio, Bob was born on February 2, 1954, in Tegulcigalpa, Honduras. He was a cop with the NYPD before becoming an agent in the 80's. It appears he was involved in black ops: he allegedly infiltrated left-wing organizations, radicalized them and set them up for the fall.
Olimpio also describes Bob Lady as an affable cop who very much liked to hang out with Italian investigators, and hand out expertise. Apparently he was very good at electronic surveillance, although his generous use of cell phones would testify to the contrary.

Just interested in your posting on the compromised snatch team, and I have pieced togther a fair amount of information. Much of it seems well-reasoned, although some might be veering into speculation and lucky guesses.
First off, I agree with the other anonymous poster's doubts about the Eyeball of Robert Seldon Lady. But I do believe that this Tulane grad is related to the fellow in Italy. Prior to the Tulane graduation listing for a Robert Seldon Lady
there was another listing of a Robert Seldon Lady Jr. being placed on the Dean's List during
Interestingly, this does not seem to be the only trace of RSL Jr. at an academic institution. What appears to be an unofficial list of students from a Balboa High School can be found online
which lists a Robert S Lady. No location for this particular Balboa High School is made
obvious from this fairly opaque website. The surnames listed seemed to indicate a high percentage of Latino students, but other than this there's no real way of determining where this school is located.
Or was located? Perhaps the former Milan station chief, who is alleged to have been born in Honduras and engaged in covert operations throughout Central America
had his son educated at the Balboa High School located in the Panama Canal Zone? Given the exit date from Tulane, RSL Jr's membership in Balboa's (final!) graduating class of 2000 would seem to confirm this educated guess.
Also, sporting records always provide ample traces on the Internet:
Although there's little need to delve into the lives of innocent children of spies, there is a point to be made through this deployment of deductive logic on open source material. If the CIA will consider all of the exposed assets from the Abu Omar rendition to have been exposed (or "burned" in covert operations parlance), shouldn't all of Lady Sr's Panamanian and other Central American assets be consider "burned" as well?
On the matter of open source research on the web, finding Robert Lady listed as the Political/Military officer for the US Consulate in Milan doesn't come as much of a surprise:
What is more of a surprise, though, is where this list, of all points of contact for US diplomatic missions, was located on the web - on a modest website put together by a firm called "Aviation Resources & Consulting Services." Is it really necessary for such a seemingly small operation to have such a list available? Or is this shadowy firm involved in rendition, in the same manner as Premier Exectuive Transportaion Services
Has another asset in the global rendition network been burned? No, it seems that ARCServices merely has a contact list mirrored that dates back two years, prior to the rendition of Abu Omar. What is borderline interesting is that this seems to be the only accessible mirror of this particular document...
Regarding the other exposed assets, the only address for a Pilar Rueda in the US seems to be in the covert operations hotbed of Miami, just blocks north of Florida International University. This particular academic instition is already intimately linked to the CIA
both now, and during the later years that Porter "Carbomb" Goss was in town.
Yet another Latin American link to this snatch team might be found in the case of Monica Adler. The heavily-politicized illegal campaign contribution case outlined at
mentions a Monica Adler of the State Department meeting with collaegues of the accused. Perhaps many years later, after cutting her teeth on shadowy Central American affairs, she is involved in translation for humanitarian outreach ("soft power") in the Bolivarian Republic of Columbia...
Also, it would seem that her partner in "MAGA Creative Services", a Gabriel Adler
could be linked to the alleged member of the snatch team Lorenzo Carrera, who is also given the middle name of Gabriel by Corriere della Sera.
Lastly, the Colonel Joseph L. Romano mentioned seems to be quite the godfather of Aviano:
And he seems to have visited High Value Targets at Camp Bucca
He does seem to be moving up in the ranks, from a Major to full Colonel in just a few years
And it seems likely that he likes to play a little golf when in Japan.
The younger gentleman adjacent to the driver's side seems to be him:

A source told me that photos were available, that he had seen photos from the passports. However it appears that papers are debating on whether to go ahead and publish them. Could be legal scruples at the moment to be ironed out. I don't know. This morning no photos were published in follow up articles.
According to several reports in Italy, Bob Lady has been living for at least five years in Italy with his family and owns a villa in the countryside near Penango (Asti). He planned to retire there but with this incrimination, it's up in the air.
According to reports Bob was CIA station chief in Milano as of 2000 and became American consul in Milan in 2003. He was recently exonerated -- probably for this story -- and went into private security consultancy.
Further revelations today indicate that Bob left Milan four days after cooordinating the kidnapping, destination Cairo, and spent two weeks there. Italian authorities believe he was involved in the initial phase of interrogation of Abu Omar.
Motivations for the preliminary sentence are particularly harsh for American and Egyptian authorities. The Judge, Chiara Nobile, accuses them of deliberate attempts to block and mislead investigators with false documentation. Bob Lady is also accused of trying to influence the investigation through his contacts in the DIGOS, the Italian investigative police.
The house in Louisiana could belong to him also.

Robert Lady resides in Italy. I have my doubts about your eyeball.
I am adding in name variants published in Corriere della Sera. Also, the photos have not yet been published. We ll see tomorrow if they will be.
Posted this morning at Booman Tribune:
Names published this morning
Digos agents went to Robert Seldon Lady's home with an arrest cum search warrant yesterday. His wife said that he was out of the country on business. The authorities sequestered a large quantity of documents. An anonymous source does not exclude that he may decide to turn himself in, once he's discussed the matter with his former(?) employees.
Robert Seldon Lady was the Milan station chief responsible for the commando operation.
The real identities as well as their cover names of the agents have been released as well as their photos. After all they are considered fugitives at large.
A source declared that as agents they are definitely burned.
I can't help recalling that the Italians did not appreciate it when the Americans burned the Italian spy network in Baghdad after the Calipari affair. Although I wouldn't consider it a deliberate intention of the judges' behalf- it's just an obvious consequence of the investigation- it is noteworthy that the government did not use its powers to hamper this investigation as I pointed out yesterday.
Here is a provisional list of their real names as published this morning:
Monica Adler, 32 years old, born in Seattle, resident in Virginia. [Monica Courtney, according to Corriere]
Cynthia Logan, 45 years old, born in Maryland, address unknown. [Cynthia Dame Logan, according to Corriere]

Milan, 24 June (AKI) - An Italian judge has ordered the arrest of 13 CIA agents for the abduction of an Egyptian cleric in the northern city of Milan and his transfer to Cairo, where he was then tortured until he partially lost the use of his legs. Hassan Mustafa Osama Nasr, also known as Abu Omar, was seized near his home in Milan on 17 February 2003. His capture is part of a controversial practice "extraordinary rendition" stepped up after the September 11 2001 attacks. Terror suspects are picked up irrespective of national laws and sent to third countries in what rights groups denounce as 'outsourcing torture'. Milan daily Corriere della Sera reports that among those issued with arrest warrants on Thursday was the former US diplomatic consul in Milan, Robert Seldon Lady, who was replaced unexpectedly several months ago. Warrants were issued for ten men and three women, whose nationalities were not specified.

Italy Seeks Arrests of 13 in Alleged Rendition
A review of the names listed in the court documents suggests that most of the people were operating under cover names. Attempts by The Washington Post to locate individuals named in the warrants were unsuccessful. The majority of the people named have no listed residence, workplace, working telephone or corporate history, according to a review of public records.
Moreover, half of the U.S. phone numbers that the operatives listed when checking into Italian hotels had been disconnected when called on Friday. Two numbers were answered by recordings for companies with names that are unregistered. A third number was answered by an answering service for a company described as a foreign trade service. Phone messages left by The Post with all three companies were not returned.
Two of the individuals had listed their addresses as boxes at the same post office in Dunn Loring, Va., that is used by a man who is listed as an officer of Premier Executive Transport Services, a company that owns two planes used by the CIA for renditions. The man's name also appears to be a cover.
Three of the 19 people named in the court documents, however, appear to be legitimate identities. One is listed in public records as a longtime U.S. government employee who has been stationed abroad.
